Project Pearls mission is to support FCAC with outreach through photography, medical fosters & education.



Brought together by a common bond of love for animals and our community, Project Pearl is hopeful to spread the news that people CAN make a huge difference by helping to promote awareness of the wonderful animals at the Shelter.

Founded in September 2011, Project Pearl received our 501(c)(3) non-profit in April 2013. We are based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Our mission began in 2011 by supporting Forsyth County Animal Control (FCAC) with photography by creating the "Lend a Lens" program in which professional photographers donate their services. Project Pearl also provides outreach for shelter animals through social media and sponsorships.

Our medical foster program, which has helped over 500 animals, provides medical care to animals that are not eligible at the time of intake for the county adoption program due to medical. Animals are transferred to Project Pearl's ownership and receive life saving medical care. Once they are healthy, they go into our adoption program.

Additionally, we have donated a great deal of our finances to low-income, community spay/neuter. Since October 2011 we have helped increase adoptions by nearly 30%. Project Pearl believes that community-wide education results in better population control, lower stray intakes and reduces owner surrenders. Our organization was created to help and support our local shelter.

Whether the photo was taken by a volunteer, professional photographer or someone posting an adoption update, you must have permission and we are more than happy to put you in touch with the photos actual owner.

In mid August 2017, we discontinued our "Lend a Lens" program for FCAC in order to focus on our growing medical foster program.

On average, we spend roughly $500-$1500+ on every animal in our program. Donations are greatly appreciated for our medical foster program.
