We are a volunteer foster based organization dedicated to restoring the dogs under our care to physical and emotional health as they awaiting homes

Lucky K9 Rescue is a non-profit, volunteer dog rescue organization serving local communities of Louisiana & St. Louis/St. Charles, Missouri. We are dedicated to rescuing dogs left homeless for whatever reason – dogs in public shelters where they are at high risk of euthanasia due to pet overpopulation, dogs given up by their owners because of difficult circumstances, and those in danger of abuse or neglect.

We place dogs in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into their homes and lives.

Animals in our care are spayed or neutered, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We assist dogs in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement. To the extent our finances allow, dogs in the greatest need take priority.

We are determined to keep administrative expenses extremely low so that virtually every dollar taken in goes directly to the care of the animals. Our group remains interested in and committed to the welfare of the dog beyond the adoption process.

Finally, we strive to work with area shelters and other rescue and humane organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless pets.

SAFE 11/25 Happy Thanksgiving sweet boy!!

Special thanks to @Kimbra Kern…. For going above and beyond for crawling under the 2 foot opening to get into the garage where he was hiding and getting covered in dirt. There is no limit to what we will do

🚨 EXTREMELY URGENT 🚨 At risk of being shot or hurt by neighboring dogs. FOSTER NEEDED ASAP!!!

We need help with this 1-2 year old male hound/Doberman that was dumped? Finder has posted and can’t find owner. No Chip.

He is not safe between a few male dogs who are aggressive toward him and the neighbor who wants to shoot him since he is a stray.

Finder said he is good with her female dog but she is in heat and good with her 2 small children. Will chase the cat to play but ate a chicken. He is about 40 pounds but thinks he is about 10 pounds underweight. A very sweet boy!!!!

Stella is in need of a foster home with a fenced yard and other dogs to play with… She is your typical pint-size bully who loves attention, loves everyone she meets but also enjoys cuddling and hanging out!

She is doing fine in her current foster home but her play style is just a little bit much for the other dogs in the home! She is crate trained and leash trained and would make a great addition to any family!

Welcome Hocus & Pocus!

These two sweet sisters will be available for adoption following their spay next week… They are both female, lab mix approximately 4-mth old.

The girls are working on the potty training and are pretty darn cute and well behaved. Hocus would do fine in the home without another dog although an older sibling is always good, but Pocus really does need another dog to help give her guidance, comfort & confidence!!

🚨URGENT FOSTER NEEED🚨3 yr old American Bulldog-will be 4 in Jan. Good with other dogs, loves kids, a little shy with new people, but warms up-just didn’t get tons of socializing when he was younger. Up to date on shots and will need to be neutered. Loves ice cream, walks and car rides!! 🚘 🍦

🌟Who can step up and save this guy so he does not end up at AC or worse in wrong hands!🌈

🚨 DQ Crew update!! 🚨

Dilly and Buster are at the emergency clinic and will be staying for a while for IV fluids and antibiotics.

Earlier this afternoon Dilly stopped eating and had some vomiting, so she was immediately taken to the emergency vet along with her brother Buster!!

Dilly’s bloodwork showed infection levels similar to Blizzard’s when she first came in… Buster’s showed infection, but the levels were just not as high as Dilly’s. Neither had really lost any weight so that is also a good sign!!! Their foster-sitter caught it early, got them in immediately and they are getting treatment

We will update as we get more information… At this point for may be looking at $500 to $700 and less somebody has to stay overnight.

Buster - 19.4 oz
Dilly - 18.6 oz

Today 10/22 She went from losing 2oz to gaining 3.3oz❤️
Blizz - 20.8 oz gain 3.3 oz
Buster - 23.4 oz gain 4oz
Dilly - 23.1 oz gain 4.5oz

We need your prayers, positive vibes and all the fairy dust you can spare for the DQ Crew!! Misty, Blizzard, Dilly & Buster.

Monday evening we picked up 4 remaining 17 day old neonatal puppies from a mother who had passed during birth. The smallest puppy (Misty) was touch and go but started eating well then quickly stopped wanting to eat, was lethargic and quickly passed away. This all happened within hours.

Today the black and white puppy (Blizzard) started acting the same and is at the emergency vet now. They have run tests, NO Parvo, but bloodwork showed she has some kind of infection. She has started her treatment and we hoping for a positive turnaround in the next 24hrs.

Dilly and Buster are still eating and gaining weight. We are monitoring them very closely and will provide an update on all of them if anything changes.

This is obviously a considerable expense that we were not expecting. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Blizzard is at AVS and will be staying the night. We are looking at 1,200-$1,300 to cover her medical care. (Invoice in photos below)
