Peaceable Primate Sanctuary

Peaceable Primate Sanctuary is a non-profit retirement sanctuary for primates from research facilities and the pet trade.

Provide an enriched and stimulating sanctuary for baboons from the pet, entertainment and research industries. To inform the public of the plight of our sanctuary's inhabitants and to educate visitors in regard to humane treatment and respect for all animals.

Peaceable Primate Sanctuary is a non-profit organization that will provide a retirement sanctuary for baboons that have been used in research or kept as pets. We are currently in the final stage of construction.

There are an estimated 5,000 baboons in research at this time. In the past, as studies were completed or if funding was lost, the animals were euthanized. Fortunately, the recent trend is towards retirement and placement in a sanctuary environment.

The growing primate pet trade has broadened to include baboons. A single animal may be valued between $1,000 to $3,000. After realizing these primates do not make good pets, owners look for a safe haven where these animals can live out their lives among their own kind.

Peaceable Primate Sanctuary will be that place.
