OVERVIEW
• Camp Able is an equine therapy and horse rescue nonprofit organization, formed in February 2014 and designated a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization in September 2014.
• Our MISSION is to cultivate healthy, independent living for people with special needs through skills-based training and equine therapy, with a special focus on using horses that have been rescued from difficult circumstances.
• Our VISION is that self-sufficiency is a reasonable and achievable goal for humans regardless of mental, emotional and physical capabilities, with the full acceptance and understanding of their caregivers and society at large.
• Camp Able was founded by Renee Hicks, who is a PATH International Registered Therapeutic Riding Instructor and a Certified Equine Therapist in Mental Health and Learning. Ms. Hicks has leveraged her 40-year career as physical education teacher, coach and riding instructor to create Camp Able based on her passion for horses and desire to help people.
• Camp Able is located 10 miles south of Abilene, Texas. Most equine therapy facilities in Texas are located near major metropolitan areas (i.e., Houston, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Austin, San Antonio), but few exist in the 100-mile radius around our ranch. We seek to fill this gap and serve the equine therapy needs of our 400,000 neighbors in The Big Country, including our service men and women at Dyess Air Force base.

OUR SERVICES: EQUINE THERAPY
• At Camp Able, we provide therapeutic riding instruction and skills-based training to people with special needs, including military veterans seeking assistance with stress-related and physical issues.
• Equine therapy is used extensively by trained physical, occupational and speech therapists to improve the cognitive, physical, emotional and social well-being of people with special needs. Through the gait of the horse, people develop core muscle strength and stimulate cognitive and neurological pathways that improve balance and coordination.
• To date, we have successfully used equine-assisted activities to help individuals diagnosed with autism, stroke, emotional disabilities, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, post traumatic stress and many other conditions.

HORSE RESCUE AT CAMP ABLE
• One of our key goals is to provide sanctuary to abused and unwanted horses and to the extent possible, use these horses to provide equine therapy services. In general, Camp Able cares for 35-40 horses at any given time and nearly half of these horses are trained and available for equine therapy uses.
