Titan had a back leg amputated in July and Knight Rider a front leg amputated in September. They went to the same foster home. Had surgery, one right after the other, got to heal and grow up together. They are absolute best friends! It is thanks to our donors that we were able to get these boys the surgeries they needed!

In October, we asked for your help with s a 3 month old kitten with a sweet personality to match named Maci. Unfortunately she was in a terrible accident that left her with a horribly broken rear leg. The break was a compound fracture and the bone was protruding through the skin.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Today we bring you an update on Bradley, the little 10 week old puppy that was found shot in the leg in October. His bone was shattered and the fragments were in the tissue. He was brought to the vet and his leg was splinted temporarily. Thankfully, the bone that was broken by the bullet is a non weight bearing bone and should heal with no further intervention. His foster mom could not bear to part with him, so she has decided to adopt him!

You are a crucial part of this crazy world we call rescue and we couldn’t continue without you ❤️. May you all be as happy as seeing that Thanksgiving dinner as Bradley is for being saved. HAPPY THANKSGIVING from AAVA. We are thankful for all the supporters out there and for all the good people who are constantly trying to help animals in need. Here is the latest picture of ❤️RUBY❤️. You can see she is healing from tetanus and leg amputation surgery and is thriving! Her jaw is relaxed and she can eat well. Her muscles arent stiff anymore and her eyes are normal again. We are grateful for all of your donations and for the great work of Dr Dusty and the staff of Lafayette Veterinary Care Center.

Stanley has been in the Vermilion Parish Shelter in rural South Louisiana for over 400 days. We are noticing that he is beginning to shut down. He has lots of jumpy energy in his kennel before being walked, but calms down after a nice stroll around the yard. The dogs in this shelter are not walked regularly, so we can't blame Stanley for his energy levels. We would get bored too sitting in a concrete kennel for 400 days.

We know that Stanley needing a home without other animals may deter some adopters, but he will provide you with all the love that you could possibly need. He will be your loyal best friend, we promise! Please share this far and wide and let’s get Stanley adopted!

Even in times of economic uncertainty, we each have a deep reserve of generosity, which we can deploy in myriad ways to make a difference--your time, your kindness, your skills, your voice are all things you can give in addition to charitable donations.

Jersey came to the Vermilion Parish Shelter in June 2021. Volunteers quickly noticed that she had a severe case of entropion and then our work truly began. We needed to fundraise and find a foster for her. In August, Jersey was able to get her surgery and entered a loving foster home! She has since had to have a second surgery to continue the repair on her eyes.

Her foster has nothing but WONDERFUL things to say about her: "She is a wonderful dog. I call her my bulldozer. She thinks she is little and doesn’t realize her size. She gets the zoomies, loves kongs, super affectionate, sleeps in the bed with me because she has to be close, gives kisses, loves treats and pets (she is very soft when she takes treats) super fast runner, does great in the bath and with nail trims, kennel and potty trained, and would make a great and loyal companion. She does well with other dogs. She has seen kittens and didn’t react but never played with them."

Jersey still has a long way to go in her recovery journey. We owe it all to our SUPPORTERS for never giving up on us and continuing to trust us with these animals. THANK YOU!

FRIDAY NIGHT UPDATE - Ruby had her leg amputation surgery on Wednesday. She did well through the surgery. However on Thursday it began to be evident that she was having trouble and she has now been diagnosed with TETANUS‼️ This is an extremely rare disease caused by a bacterial infection usually from a deep wound. The bacteria releases a toxin that attacks the nerves and can cause stiffness in limbs, lockjaw and several other conditions. Ruby has many of these. She can only slightly open her mouth. Eating is difficult. She is being treated with antibiotics, IV fluids and muscle relaxers. She is slightly improved tonight but she has a very long road ahead of her. If the disease doesn't progress it may take 2/3 weeks for her to recover. She remains hospitalized. We will do all we can to help her to survive. Our vet expenses for her have increased significantly. We can't do this without your ❌HELP❌ Please continue to donate for Ruby. Her vet bill will be at least $3500. Maybe more. 🆘🆘🆘 TUESDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE Ruby was seen at the shelter vet today to prepare for surgery but it has been determined that she needs to go to a 24 hour vet so she was brought today to Lafayette Veterinary Care Center. She will receive fluids and antibiotics in preparation for her amputation surgery tomorrow if all goes well. She is not the greatest surgical candidate but we are going to try to help her. Her estimate for leg amputation and spay while sedated is now $2000, PLEASE CONTINUE TO DONATE! RUBY NEEDS US‼️‼️‼️

❌❌❌ GRAPHIC POST! All animal neglect and cruelty is hard to look at but we find this to be one of the worst. Ruby's foot is literally rotting off. She was found as a stray and she has milk but no puppies were found. Her foot/leg is so infected. She was put on pain meds and antibiotics in preparation for a leg amputation on Tuesday. We have got to raise money for this as we cannot possibly afford it. We HAVE to raise $1200 to help this poor girl. Please help us. Please DONATE via the donate button
