At best, a community gets to build a new sheltering facility every 20-30 years. FOCCAS is working to build an intake facility for the CCAS & our community

The goal of this group is to start a grass roots movement to improve the conditions at the Cumberland County Animal Shelter with the long term goal of raising awareness and support for the construction of a new animal shelter. FOCCAS works with local animal welfare groups and is supported by many local organizations.

FOCCAS is committed to continuing to work towards providing for the health, safety, and enrichment of every animal at our shelter. With that in mind, we feel the next, critical step, is to provide funding for the construction of a new intake and quarantine/holding facility. We had hoped to see this building and the new adoption center build in a new location that would provide ease of access and high visibility. Our research shows this is critical to increasing local adoptions and community involvement. We failed to convince our county commissioners of the merits of a new location. But we hold steadfast in our resolve to provide the homeless and abandoned animals of our community a safe, comfortable, and healthy environment while they wait to be placed in the adoption center or to go on their Freedom Ride.
