Holiday Escape Thailand

“Holiday Escape Thailand” and together with “The Hillside Retreat-Elephant Sanctuary” is now offering their handlers/mahout an option for their elephant to have a better life and choice.

Elephant (Thai: chang) is a big part of Thai culture, it is Thailand’s official national animal. In mid-2007 there were 3,456 estimated domestic elephants left in Thailand and declared endangered species back in 1986.

Back in the days, elephants had four purposes or option as a working animal and it depends on their handler or Mahout which one they will take.
• Logging in the forest
• Tourism – offer trekking to the tourist in the camp
• Entertainment / Show
• Begging – as we sees them walking to a hot pavement in the street/road and Mahout trying to sell Bananas in exchange for money.

“Holiday Escape Thailand” and together with “The Hillside Retreat-Elephant Sanctuary” is now offering their handlers/mahout an option for their elephant to have a better life and choice. This option will help reduce or eliminate the 4 major job option we have on search for their financial needs to support their own family.
