Clermont Animal CARE Humane Society

Clermont Animal CARE Humane Society was formed for the purpose of running the county animal shelter to serve Clermont County, Ohio in providing animal care, housing and warden services.

Our name, Clermont Animal CARE Humane Society, reflects our core values – Compassion, Advocacy, Rescue and Education. Our vision is to be a valuable resource for the community – reuniting lost companion pets, reducing the stray population, offering opportunities for unwanted animals to be adopted or rescued and providing the public with information and programs for responsible pet ownership. Such a shelter will be a source of pride and a tremendous asset for Clermont County.

Although we are newly formed as the Clermont Animal CARE Humane Society, we are not new to animal rescue and animal sheltering. Rather, our leadership has extensive and broad-based experience.

CARE is a team of individuals with wide-ranging experience in animal rescue, animal welfare, business administration and fundraising. Members of our Board of Directors and Advisors include multiple entrepreneurs and Clermont county business owners; and those with deep ties to the animal welfare community. Our members currently hold and have held staff, volunteer and leadership positions with a vast number of animal welfare organizations:

-Board Member and former Board President of The League for Animal Welfare;

-Executive Director of Boone County Animal Shelter, with experience and success implementing No-Kill strategies at a local open-admission county shelter;

-Midwest Regional Director for Best Friends Animal Society, and the former Chief of Animal Services for the City of Austin, Texas;

-Founder and Board Member of Smith's Pit Stop, of a non-profit that has funded the spay/neuter of nearly 1,000 animals since 2015;

-Founder and Board President of My Furry Valentine, the region's largest mega adoption event involving 50 local shelters and rescue groups;

-Registered Veterinary Technician with MedVet Medical and Cancer Center;

-Former Board Secretary of HeARTsSpeak, an international non-profit organization that’s uniting art and advocacy to increase the visibility of shelter animals;

-Executive Director and two former Board Presidents of United Coalition for Animals.

These skillsets and relationships will serve as a foundation to fortify CARE’s mission.
