Pawmetto Lifeline Heart Program

HEART’s mission: rescue companion pets scheduled for euthanasia in local shelters and place them with other no-kill rescues.

The mission of Pawmetto Lifeline HEART (Help Every Animal Reach Tomorrow) Rescue Collaboration is to facilitate the rescue of companion pets scheduled for euthanasia in municipal shelters and ensure their safety through the coordinated efforts of a network of like-minded rescue organizations.

Each day, a representative from Pawmetto Lifeline photographs companion animals located in municipal shelters in the Midlands area of South Carolina that are scheduled for euthanasia and promotes them via email, Facebook and other means to non-profit rescue groups across the country in hopes that they will step up and rescue them from euthanasia. Pawmetto Lifeline then facilitates the rescue between the organizations and the municipal shelters.

Every year over 19,000 dogs and cats are euthanized in municipal shelters in the Midlands. Currently, approximately 1000 animals are rescued through Pawmetto Lifeline's regular adoption program to the public; however, so many are left behind. The HEART program is one more way that we can give these worthy souls a chance at life. It is our goal to be able to rescue five thousand animals a year through this program.
