SF SPCA Animal Assisted Therapy
The San Francisco SPCA Animal Assisted Therapy program sends out volunteers with dogs, cats, birds and other animals to visit hospitals, nursing and convalescent homes, senior centers, mental health facilities and youth programs.
The mission of the San Francisco SPCA is to save and protect animals, provide care and treatment, advocate for their welfare, and enhance the human-animal bond.
Those of us in AAT work to provide access to the
human-companion animal bond for those who wish to engage
in the bond, but are unable to access it through their own means.
Additionally, we serve our community by facilitating the
acquisition of skills requisite to full social participation and
success, including basic literacy, empathy, and social conscience.
