Eastern Shore Rabbit Rescue and Education Center

Rescuing abandoned domestic rabbits on Maryland’s Eastern Shore - shelter, care, and helping them find their forever homes

The Eastern Shore Rabbit Rescue and Education Center (ESRREC), is based in Rock Hall, Maryland. ESRREC ensures the health, safety and emotional well-being of abandoned domestic rabbits on Maryland’s Eastern Shore through shelter, care, and guidance to families who will adopt them as companion animals.

ESRREC is a nonprofit corporation. We are 100% volunteer-run. We intend to file for 501(c)(3) status soon.

Our geographic coverage encompasses five Maryland counties to the east of the Chesapeake Bay: Kent, Queen Anne’s, Cecil, Talbot, and Caroline.

We will begin operations in Spring 2015.

Activities will include:

- Manage a shelter (8-10 rabbits) & any related medical care
- Conduct educational programs at the ESRREC premises and other locations
- Partner with animal welfare organizations on Maryland’s Eastern Shore
- Arrange with local animal hospital to spay/neuter rabbits before adoption
- Manage a local foster network
- Manage adoptions
- Organize and manage volunteers
- Conduct fundraising activities
- Conduct outreach at local animal shelters, pet stores
- Manage sales and inventory of Usagi’s Place, a store on the premises, open Saturdays and Sundays 12-5pm. 100% of the proceeds from Usagi’s Place will benefit ESRREC.

NOTE: We cannot accept wild rabbits. We are not licensed to rehab injured wildlife. If you have an injured wild rabbit, we recommend that you contact Department of Natural Resources.
