To care for abused, neglected, injured and abandoned animals in Medina County, Ohio (And surrounding areas when we have space available.)

The mission of the Medina County SPCA is to protect and care for animals in our community from abuse, cruelty, neglect, injury and abandonment. Acting as an independent non-profit 501(c)3 with no ties to any national organization or rescues, we employ the only Humane Officers and Emergency Rescue Technicians who respond to calls about animals in need.

When these specific cases are reported, an investigation is initiated resulting in one of the following outcomes:

Education through our Humane Education Program
Removal of animals from premises
Prosecution as per Ohio’s animal cruelty laws

In addition to our Humane Officers being a law enforcement official, our agency has prosecutorial powers. Since the inception of the Medina County SPCA, there have been several successfully prosecuted cases of animal abuse and neglect in the community.

Animals in need are brought into our four stage system that provides medical care, rehabilitation, fostering and adoption. When possible, the animals are placed in a foster home during recuperation. Once they are well, they are made available for adoption in qualified homes.

There is always a need for foster homes for cats, dogs, small mammals, reptiles, horses and farm animals. That’s why our work would not be possible without the generosity of individuals who open their homes to the animals that need help.
