Official Page for the City of Dickinson Animal Shelter. Shelter hours are posted under business hours (excluding weekends and holidays) or by calling the shelter at 701-456-7039 to make an appointment with either Michele Thompson or Vern Nelson.

To view impounded animals or to see which pets are available for adoption, please visit the "photos" tab above and select the appropriate album. Adoptions and the release of impounds may be arranged by messaging the page or calling 701-456-7039.

The shelter staff and volunteers strive to do everything they can to reunite pets with their owners or find new homes if not claimed within 10 days. However, please be advised that shelter policy states that animals who are not placed in homes may become eligible for euthanasia.

**Photos of impounded pets are regularly posted online, however, if your cat or dog is not posted online that does not guarantee we do not have them. Animals come and go at all hours of the day and night and it is possible for an impounded animal to be temporarily overlooked for posting.** If missing a pet, it is advisable to visit the shelter personally to view the animals present.

The city shelter recommends outfitting all cats and dogs with pet collars containing the animal's current Rabies tag, City of Dickinson animal license, ID tags and/or microchips to help with reunification should your pet be impounded. Notably, Dickinson city ordinances require ALL dogs and cats living within city limits to be wearing a pet collar containing a Dickinson city animal license and current rabies tag at all times.

Please remember that dogs AND CATS located outside your personal property are considered to be "at large" and are in violation of City Law, subject to fines and impound fees.

The City Shelter encourages spaying and neutering of all cats and dogs to control the over-population of homeless pets.
