A refuge for abused and neglected horses in Western North Carolina

to provide a safe place for horses( and others) to rehabilitate to their fullest potential, to rehome when they are ready and to allow them to live out their lives at the ranch if no home is found.

situated on 10 acres in the Smoky Mountains at exit 20 off of I40 west of Asheville, NC STAR (Save the Animals Rescue) is a haven for not only horses now. Over 80 animals at any one time are living in harmony at the ranch, enjoying the life they were always meant to have. Goats, Cats and Dogs couldn't be left behind.
