We want to thank everyone that came out to participate at our 1st annual Howl-O-Ween Wooftacular 2021 event! Without you all, HSHC wouldn’t be what it is today. We as a community should be beyond proud!

It was awesome seeing some of our alum! Everyone was so kind, the vendors were awesome, had amazing food, it was a great event. Hopefully next year we can gather even more folks in the community to come join the festivities.

Congratulations to Shae for winning both the pumpkin pie eating contest and the ghost poop hunt, Heidi for winning 1st place in our costume contest as “the big bad wolf”, and Embo for winning runner up in the costume contest as “Rambo”!

Big thank you to The Lunchbox Food Truck, Drifter Doughnuts, Mountain Hound Pet Waste Removal, and Pawsitively Delish WV for joining us! As well as the juniorettes from Bridgeport Middle and the Junior Humane Society club from Robert C. Byrd for helping make the event go so smoothly. You all are sweet as pumpkin pie!

Our gal, Shena, has lost 16 lbs since she came to the shelter! At intake she weighed 96 lbs. you could tell she was facing discomfort and being obese as well as 7 years old as a mastiff mix didn’t mix well! Shena is still on route to her best healthy self but she’s progressing daily! Shena is able to keep up with her yard buddies now and she’s so much more spunky and happy. Obesity is abuse. This girl is a staff favorite. She does well with other dogs, she’s house trained, and she’s been a shelter resident for MONTHS now. Dogs aren’t disposable and we know Shena feels like she is. ❤️

She is vaccinated, dewormed, spayed, and microchipped. She’s just waiting on someone that will give her a home and regular exercise.
