Hub City Humane Society
Mission Statement -
The Hub City Humane Society is dedicated to provide compassionate care of homeless, neglected and abused animals. We strive to maintain the highest quality of services to the community by relieving the pain and suffering of all animals brought into our care. We are an open admission animal shelter for the city of Petal where pets in this area are never turned away due to health or physical space limitations. For the greater Hattiesburg area we are a limited admission shelter, helping all unwanted or homeless pets that we have the physical and financial means to assist. We will engage the public and actively increase public awareness of animal welfare issues as well as work to prevent cruelty and promote kindness towards animals. Programs such as equine therapy, after-school training and riding programs, and humane oriented summer camps are just a few of the offerings that will increase community involvement which is our number one goal. Our organization collaborates with rescue and animal welfare organizations both locally and nationally and promises to maintain this high level of performance through continued training and education for management and staff.

We have been blessed with the opportunity to bring forth a new era in animal welfare for our community. The Hub City Humane Society is moving forward with plans to construct a new community based animal shelter on a 50+ acre parcel located in the of Hattiesburg area. The size of this parcel will make possible many new and groundbreaking programs as well as a new state of the art animal care facility. This facility will far exceed any animal shelter in this state. Programs will include: extensive humane education, youth animal training programs, agility training, a community park, and a dog park just to name a few.

Groups involved with this endeavor include the local veterinary community, multiple departments and groups from USM, local government, and other knowledgeable community members. We are seeking input from local pet lovers. Ideas and suggestions can be emailed to hubcityhumsoc@aol.com or you can call 601-268-1157 and speak with Alisha or Brenda. Your ideas and suggestions will be of great value. Our corporation was recognized at the end of February 2011 and non-profit status is in the application phase. Any and all monetary donations would be greatly appreciated. When non-profit status is achieved, these donations will be tax deductible.
