Special Pals offers Adoptions, Boarding and a monthly wellness Clinic... the ABC's of being a great pet owner.

Our mission is to make a measurable and sustainable difference in the Greater Houston pet population by offering affordable pet care services, rescuing and rehabilitating homeless companion animals, finding forever homes, and providing education about responsible pet ownership. Special Pals is a no-kill, nonprofit animal shelter that relies on your donations to continue making an impact.

Special Pals has been operating in the Houston area for over 20 years. In the mid-90's, the shelter moved out to its current location on Greenhouse Road near Katy.

The shelter facility sits on over 3 1/2 wooded acres and provides shelter to approximately 60 dogs and cats.

The staff maintains the facilities and cares for the animals 7 days a week. Our wonderful volunteers work daily either "hands on" with the animals or away from the shelter at at fund-raising events or related projects.

If you are interested in adopting a pet, please arrive at least 30 minutes before closing to allow time for the adoption process, which includes an application and an interview.
