Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center

The Franklin County Department of Animal Care and Control enforces Ohio dog laws in Franklin County and operates the Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center.

Our mission is to balance the welfare and safety needs of the citizens and dogs in Franklin County.
We are dedicated to providing responsible enforcement of dog laws in our community, compassionate treatment of the dogs in our shelter, and on-going education for our citizens.

Our new Dog Shelter & Adoption Center opened on October 3, 2011, following several years of planning and construction. It replaced the outdated former shelter on Alum Creek Drive, and provides a clean, safe, healthy environment for the dogs, visitors, volunteers and employees.
