Krishna Ashram

Krishna Ashram is an organization dedicated to providing a safe refuge to animals suffering from neglect and cruelty.

To teach the citizens of India and their families how to care for and nurture dogs, especially street dogs, plus teach children to be kind to animals.

In addition to our 24/7 Street Dog Care and Shelter Facility we are running programmes for children, we are also educating people using new technology on the importance of knowing and understanding, feeding and nurturing dogs. Currently we run this in Delhi and the NCR Region.

Citizens who choose to participate in the programme, get a chance to see rehab of street dogs back to better health with the support of Rita Singh and her organization ‘Krishna Ashram’.

We stress on the importance of providing clean water and food to the dogs, and getting them treatment for parasitic ailments with the help of a Veterinary Specialist. We also give the dogs their initial ‘shots’. People are truly amazed to see the street dogs after just 7-10 days of rehab treatment.

Started with the individual effort of Mrs. Rita Singh, Krishna Ashram in the last 30 years has rescued and cared for thousands of sick and injured stray animals. Funded through individual contribution, the shelter houses around 600 animals, 400 dogs and 200 other animals like cattle monkeys, horses and mules. So far we have rehabilitated around 760 dogs.

Vision:-

The plight in India is reflected in the large number of stray animals that roam the streets. Suffering from starvation, injuries and sickness, many of these animals are often victims of reckless individuals who do not understand their basic responsibility as human beings.

Krishna Ashram's vision is to bring awareness to all strata of society through training. People are made aware to treat dogs with care as living things which also have feelings. It further has mission to provide shelter to homeless animals, to rehabilitate injured and orphaned animals, and to teach people to demonstrate compassion and respect for animals in their daily life.
