Cowtown Canine's Shadows For Life

Cowtown Canine's Shadows For Life

Our organization is all about helping animals in need!
We are a group of committed folks who literally live and breathe dogs!

In December of 2014 Brittany Pugliese and Destani Mize founded the Organization Cowtown Canines Shadows For Life! Both Brittany and Destani had already been devoting their lives to saving animals and had been doing so through out Johnson and Tarrant County for years! CCSFL got its name in remembrance of Brittany's father, Michael Pugliese! Michael Pugliese was the founder of Shadows For Life, a non-profit organization that trained service and therapy dogs for those physically, mentally, and emotionally disabled! Sadly, Michael Pugliese passed away in July of 2012 and Brittany's world was crushed. She had to dissolve her fathers organization and find homes for all of his dogs! She continued with the rescue work that her father and her had done in the past, but it was all strictly funded out of her own pocket! Having worked in just about every field of the dog industry including vet tech, dog training, and kennel management Brittany knew her way around the dog world pretty well! She also owns Cowtown Canines, a dog daycare and boarding facility in West Fort Worth!

Destani, or Desto as Brittany calls her, has a true passion for all living furry things but truly adores her bully breeds! She volunteered for several rescue organizations and is an advocate of the Pit Bull breed! Any time any of her family or friends needed any type of behavioral or training advise off to Aunt Desto they would go! Destani also has worked just about every field in the dog industry and is very educated in all of them! She has a true passion for rehabilitation and thrives off of watching their progress!

In the beginning of 2014 Destani and Brittany met and immediately hit it off with their passion for dogs and animals in general! After Brittany and Destani joined forces people began to recognize the dynamic duo as the crazy dog ladies of Burleson! With their combined knowledge of breeds, medical, behavioral, socialization, and rescue work it seemed like every day they were being asked to help! Whether it be to rescue this litter of kittens that needed to be bottle fed or help with training a pugnacious Pug before the owners gave up on him! After several people recommend that they create an official organization the girls finally decided to brand Cowtown Canines Shadows For Life!

Currently the two girls are involved in all rescue efforts possible. They will often take in dogs that need medical attention and once they are healed they will begin the rehoming process. Destani is often involved with training or rehabilitating of dogs in need while Brittany is usually socializing one of our many rescues to ensure they live a healthy and happy life! They host quarterly fundraisers at Cowtown Canines where they help raise funds for all of their rescue efforts! At these events they have TCAP come out and offer discount vaccines and heart worm test for the locals and usually they try to have Carter Blood Care come out for blood donors to be able to donate! Cowtown Canines also offers discounted baths and nail trims with all proceeds going to CCSFL!

The main objective these girls have is education! You will often hear them informing people of the importance of neutering, vaccinating, socializing, microchipping, and training your pets!

The girls go by the saying "It Takes A Village" and they want everyone to realize how true that statement is! We cannot expect to have empty shelters and homes for all of our animals with out education and contributions!
