Seal Beach Animal Care Center - SBACC
Animal rescue, pet adoptions, animal shelter. We are an all-volunteer, non-profit animal shelter formed in 1986, opened the doors June 25, 1988.
Established in 1986, the Seal Beach Animal Care Center is a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter committed to finding permanent, loving homes for all the animals that come into our care. Our staff of dedicated volunteers ensures the animals are kept as comfortable as possible until they can be placed in to new adoptive homes.
As a no-kill animal shelter, getting through each day is an accomplishment. While the SBACC primarily serves the City of Seal Beach, we attract adopters from Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Diego Counties, in addition to networking with other shelters, rescue groups and animal sanctuaries across the country. We believe that through adoption counseling and education, we are helping to create a community that cares for animals with responsibility and compassion.

Kitten Hanzo has a new family! Hanzo and his two siblings were abandoned on the doorstep of a vet's office when they were only three days old! A playful, outgoing kitten, Hanzo won this young man's heart by jumping onto his lap as soon as he sat down, and then onto his head! He will also have his Dad's mom, another young cat, and a dog in his new home! Have a wonderful life, sweet Hanzo! ❤️🐾

We have a number of handsome all black teens in Drew’s Room (Ethan, Cosmo, Ernie and Hansel, clockwise from upper left), transferred over from the kitten rooms in the last month when they reached around six months old – now getting long legged and sleek. Many of the kitties have become new door greeters, very curious, playful and affectionate. Cosmo had always been extremely shy, but lately he’s working hard to come out of his shell, while the others will approach for pets and attention. ❤️🐾

Hello, I’m Ghost. I first arrived at SBACC with my two brothers after being rescued from a medical center at 3 ½ months old. Kittens will often become feral if still on the street at that age, but not us! We’ve always been mellow kitties, and I’m a friendly, playful and sweet boy. My brothers have found their homes so now I’m waiting for mine. I love pets and if you start, I’ll follow you around (once I get to know you a little) and flop down to roll and stretch so you can do an even better job petting me! I get along with all my kitty roommates and enjoy their company until someday when a family comes to take me home, hopefully with another kitten or cat. ❤️🐾

I originally came to SBACC as a kitten and was adopted along with my sister. I had a home for 15 years but there were some issues, and I came back to the center. My name is Max and I’m a big, gentle, friendly and talkative boy. Unless I’m napping, I’m usually there to greet volunteers and ask for pets and attention, and I’ll sometimes sit in the hall window, calling out for someone to come visit. Once you pet or brush me, I may follow you around the room, chatting. I still like to play and will chase a ribbon or feather. It would be great if I could find another home to spend the remainder of my senior years. ❤️🐾

Thanksgiving Volunteer Post - Part 2!
As we already mentioned, our shelter could not go round without our volunteers. And on this Thanksgiving night, we are thankful that each dog has a soft, warm bed, fun-filled days, walks and talks, and a chance to play, yummy food, treats, and endless toys. This is ALL thanks to our volunteers. We hope our fans had a Great Thanksgiving Day! 🤎

Happy Thanksgiving again, everyone! We have an extra special reason to be thankful this year.
Little Viper was found all alone at three weeks old behind some trash cans at a local market. Unable to use his back legs, he would not have survived much longer had a caring lady not scooped him up and brought him to us.
In spite of specialist evaluations and regular acupuncture treatments, he has not regained the use of his legs, nor is he able to control his bladder or bowels.
We reached out to Best Friends in Utah to see if they would be able to take him, and he has been accepted at Quincy House, which is their unit for cats who are partially paralyzed and incontinent! He will join about 50 cats, and receive the best care and treatment!
Viper is now Clark Gable, and he will move to Utah this weekend! We are so thankful to the wonderful folks at Best Friends for giving this sweet little guy a chance to live his best life! ❤️🐾
