STH is an animal rescue organization that works to save impounded animals in MI by placing them into home foster care until permanent homes are found.

To save animals from shelters in our community by placing them into foster care until permanent homes are found, and to create sustainable solutions to achieve a no kill community.


Millions of animals are killed in shelters every year. Since its inception in 2007, Shelter to Home has rescued over 3,000 animals from local shelters. We welcome shelter pets into our program regardless of appearance, age, or medical needs. We mend their broken hearts and bodies and help them find their perfect home, giving them the second chance they almost didn’t have.

Primarily a foster-based rescue, we realized a dream when we opened the Pet Adoption Center (PAC) in March of 2012. This beautiful Victorian house built in 1874 serves as STH’s headquarters. It also houses up to 20 cats at a time and allows potential adopters to meet them in a home-like setting. Visitors have said that the PAC is a magical place. We agree - it’s magical for both cats and cat lovers alike!
