Founded in 2005, we are a small non-profit 501(c)3 dedicated to animal care, protection and responsible animal ownership. We are a virtual facility made up of foster homes and volunteers.

Knine Rescue is a small non-profit 501(c)3 organization, dedicated to animal care and protection. We are a private organization, run solely on donations. We assist shelters and other rescues (both in our area and out of our area alike), and take on word of mouth tasks. Our goal is to promote responsible animal ownership and to assume those responsibilities when others are unwilling or unable to do so.

If you are in the DC, MD, or Northern, VA areas, we can assist you in selecting the right pet. Please ask us about pet selection and check out the animals currently in our adoption program – www.kninerescue.com. We are also available to assist you with any questions or problems you may have concerning your companion and we encourage you to contact us.

Placing animals in new homes is a responsibility we take seriously. Our adoption program includes an application form, contract, home visit and adoption donation, used to fund our rescue operations. All persons interested in adopting a pet from us must read and complete the forms. Forms are found our website – www.kninerescue.com

Our Adoption Goals:
The purpose of our adoption program is to place an animal in a responsible home where it will:

* Receive veterinary care when needed
* Not add to the pet overpopulation problem
* Be controlled so it will not roam free in the neighborhood
* Be happy with its owner and the owner happy with the pet

This cutie and hundreds like him need YOUR help!

Right now, so many dogs are being euthanized due to over crowding in shelters. These shelters do not have the space or resources to deal with the number of dogs coming in. This is not an easy choice for them.

It is beyond devastating to put a perfectly good dog down just because humans are negligent. A Border Collie and her 8 puppies were set to be put down, but we took them in. Bad breeders, bad laws, and bad people are responsible for this.

Shelters have reached out to Knine Rescue begging for any help they can get.

These dogs need fosters. They need selfless people to step up and bring them into their homes and let them know a better life is possible. We need to their lives.

This is our “Why?”. This is why we do what we do. This is why we adopt don’t shop. This is why we take dogs from kill shelters that have YEARS of life still ahead of them. This is why we urge you to tell anyone that will listen to go to a shelter instead of a breeder.

Every flea and tick and heart-worm. Every vet appointment. Every transport. Every long night. Every early morning. Every dog that didn’t get to see a better life.

It is times like this, when you stop and realize what you’re doing this for.

He is, in our opinion, a white husky mix! Very sweet and VERY energetic (as Huskys usually are)
