Sugarfoot Farm Rescue

Sugarfoot Farm Rescue, Columbia, Kentucky

Our major goal is to establish a low cost/no cost spay/neuter program that is available to everyone to help stop the overpopulation of pets in KY.

Many states have successful programs and their shelters have few pets available for adoption. Many shelters in KY have high kill rates and we would love to see our shelters empty and no need for rescues.

Part of our Rescue Mission is to continue adult and youth education to encourage responsible pet ownership.

We hope to do this by promoting spay/neuter CLINICS and educating owners as to their responsibilities to spay/neuter their pets and critical to education is bringing an end to the continuous breeding of dogs that will end up as abandoned or cruelly killed.

We are a NO KILL facility. Any dogs brought here stay until they find a home. If suitable homes cannot be found, the dogs stay on the farm in our sanctuary program.

It can sometimes take 6 months or longer, to fully rehabilitate a dog depending on their condition when rescued. Before we allow dogs to be adopted, they are given a health care check, spayed or neutered, vaccinated (all at our expense).

We also provide optional microchip for the dogs when they are placed and have a policy that the dogs can be returned to us at any time for any reason.

We have placed hundreds of happy, healthy dogs into loving adoptive homes. We have also worked to create a networking program over several states to help with proper adoption and transportation.
