SPCA Kerikeri - Bay Of Islands Mission Statement

"To encourage the humane treatment of all animals, and to prevent cruelty that may be inflicted upon them."

To be achieved by:

Providing a shelter for animals requiring care and attention, working with local Vets and organisations who have facilities that cater for their complete needs and ensuring the promotion of successful long term adoptions for suitable animals.

Promoting a humane understanding of all animals by influencing the public perception of animals through education and example.

Seeking the active and financial support of the public to assist in the accomplishment of these undertakings, ensuring that funds received are utilised and maximised to the overall benefit of the animals.

Providing leadership in the lobbying of effective legislation to prevent cruelty to all animals, professionally enforcing existing laws and regulations that have been established for their protection.

The lobbying of local government, community leaders, and the education of all members of our community, with regard to the benefits of De-sexing all dogs and cats.

The Bay of Islands SPCA is part of Royal New Zealand Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. It is a voluntary organisation which, through its 48 district branches across the country, provides help to animals and owners 24 hours a day, seven days a week, although the public should expect only genuine emergencies to be dealt with outside normal working hours.

We rely almost entirely on the generosity of the public to carry out our life-saving work. The majority of our income comes from donations, bequests and our own fundraising efforts.

We have a Dog & Cat Shelter - we offer the community a 24/7 emergency service - we are a very small SPCA, we have two Inspectors covering 7 24/7 emergency service.

At the BOI SPCA we're not just about cats and dogs - we take in or care for all animals and work with many agencies to ensure all those sick and or injured are given the best care we can provide.

Thank you for your ongoing care and support.
