Old North Canine Rescue

Old North Canine Rescue (ONCR) is a 501c3 nonprofit, all-volunteer organization. Our goal is to reduce the number of homeless dogs in the area.

We are not shelter nor are we shelter staff. North Canine Rescue (ONCR) is a nonprofit, all volunteer organization comprised of people who believe the world is simply a better place with dogs in it! Serving Alamance and other surrounding counties, we are dedicated to reducing the number of dogs in county shelters by providing the foster and adoption services of shelter pets and networking shelter dogs. We are dedicated to reduce the number of owner surrenders to the shelter through our Pet Helpline program, education about heartworm disease and prevention, referrals to community resources, and behavioral training and assistance for owners who are considering surrendering their pet.

Old North Canine Rescue is not the animal shelter, nor are we employees of the animal shelter. We are an all volunteer, dog rescue and community outreach nonprofit organization. We focus primarily on removing dogs from the Burlington Animal Shelter and into foster homes for adoption. We also work with the community focusing on education, connection to resources and referrals for issues related to training, medical assistance, food and supplies.
