ACS is a sanctuary not a pet shop or breeder. Every guinea pig that enters an ACS shelter is technically homeless hence the term 'adopt' and not 'buy'

To provide a safe refuge for all guinea pigs needing new homes.
To improve the understanding and level of care that guinea pigs are finding as domestic pets.
To promote the humble guinea pig as a valuable, important part of the family, and to lose the impression that guinea pigs are seen as "disposable" pets.

This shelter is run, and funded, by one person. For this reason, we do ask that prospective adoption homes please be patient (or persistent!) as the workload is often more than one person can cope with!

All the animals in our care are given a second chance at a great life. Excellent homes will be sought for all our adoptables. Many of our available animals may not be listed for adoption, simply because of the time taken to keep our adoptable pages up to date. So if you don't see something that you like, please ask as we may have such a piggy in our care already, or we can place you onto a waiting list to be notified when the perfect animal comes along!

We will ask for information regarding the care that our adoptables will be given in their new home, and a home check may be asked for. At very least, photographs will be required to show the setup our little guys will be living in. We will also require all adoptive homes to sign an adoption agreement.
