Southwest Llama Rescue, Inc. (SWLR)

SWLR is a 501(c)(3)non-profit organization incorporated in New Mexico, and funded by donations and adoption fees.

To provide safe refuge for un-wanted, neglected or abandoned llamas through intervention, education and necessary support. To seek placement and lifelong care for all llamas entrusted to our care.

When llamas come into the care of Southwest Llama Rescue, Inc. (SWLR), they are health-checked, vaccinated, dewormed, sheared and manicured. Some males are gelded. The llamas then go to one of our SWLR facilities, where they are prepared for adoption into pre-screened homes. All SWLR llamas are placed with a non-breeding contract.

Prior to placement, adopters must meet farm requirements and submit adoption forms. A facility check will be done by a SWLR member.

There is an adoption fee of $250 for any SWLR animal. If adopters can no longer care for an SWLR llama, the llama must be returned to SWLR.

We at SWLR hope you will consider fostering or adopting one of our rescues. We have many available for adoption.

We also have llamas that, for whatever reason, will not be adopted, but will instead by cared for at our rescue facilities. We need people willing to "sponsor" these llamas by donating financially for their day-to-day care.
