Our Mission is to promote the Great Pyrenees as the New Number One
Family Pet in America!!! Look out Labrador Retrievers!!!

Wayside Rescue is a Sanctuary for Great Pyrenees in Thayne, Wyoming. It is a half-way rehabilitation habitat for Pyrs who have been surrendered to kill shelters, abandoned, neglected or abused. A respite at the Ranch allows them to gain their bearings, get medical treatment they might need--spaying or neutering, vaccinations, microchipped, and to get their tummies full.

Since we rarely know where these poor wanderers have come from, they need a time to rest and get acclimated to our environment so that they can be evaluated. Will they be good with children, safe for cats, house dogs or outside dogs, are they food aggressive, are they dog aggressive? It takes some time for a dog to decompress from his/her previous conditions before s/he can be truly evaluated.

The Sanctuary part of Wayside (Thayne, Wyoming) for dogs who cannot be reintegrated or integrated into a family life. These dogs will spend the remaining years of their lives at the Sanctuary. These are dogs who have disabilities, have been too severely neglected or abused to trust humans again, feral dogs who have been left behind to survive-or not, on abandoned ranches and farms and those who are just too old to adapt to another new environment. They live out the rest of their lives as pampered members of the Ranch Community in Thayne, Wyoming.
