Pets Alive is a no-kill animal shelter, located in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, about 1 1/2 hours from New York City. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and place animals in need. Victims of neglect, abuse, and violence, many of them have special needs and have been rejected by other organizations.

Animals at the sanctuary range from dogs and cats to farm animals. Many of the animals at Pets Alive are older, have special needs or require special care.

CROSSPOSTING POLICY - STRICTLY ENFORCED - PLEASE READ

We appreciate all the rescues and independent rescuers out there working tirelessly to save lives. YOU are the difference. We regret that we can not allow cross postings or personal rescue requests on our Facebook or MySpace pages. It would quickly become overwhelming to allow the hundreds of rescuers to all post animals here. Instead, if you have a SPECIFIC animal you are trying to help you can go to our surrender page at http://petsalive.com/surrender.html and follow the instructions there to see if we can help. Our email is flooded with over 1000 requests a month and over 800 of those are "cross postings". It does little but really bog us down in trying to read them. To have our Facebook and MySpace pages filled with them as well would not make a fun, interactive or welcoming website. We ask you to please respect our wishes and work WITH us and not against us. We welcome your requests to help specific animals but it MUST be within our guidelines so that we can continue to be effective. We do NOT cross post or forward cross postings. We request you do NOT send us cross postings either as we usually get them multiple times - sometimes as often as 20 times a month - the SAME cross posting and this only serves to bog us down in mail. Also please do not "tag" Pets Alive in any rescue pleas, post any rescue requests/notifications on our "Wall" or send any rescue pleas/requests/notifications to our Facebook inbox.
