Save A Pet Florida

Our volunteers rescue homeless cats & dogs from the streets every day. Our focus is on the hurt, discarded & forgotten ones. www.saveapet.com

Our goal is for people to keep their pets, not abandon them because they cannot provide financially for them. Our efforts are focused on 5 specific programs designed to meet critical needs in our communities. These programs were created to fill the voids in the animal rescue industry.

• Financial Aid Program – Veterinary care for sick or injured companion pets of financially challenged people residing in Palm Beach County, FL (application & qualification required). This program is for individuals that are unemployed/underemployed, on social security or disability & those that meet the Federal Poverty Guidelines. We will pay a portion directly to the Veterinary Clinic (up to $200.00) for treatment of companion animals with life threatening emergencies/conditions caused by illness or trauma, and non life threatening emergency situations/conditions that are detrimental to the well being of a pet.

• Spay/Neuter Assistance – Sterilization of companion pets of financially challenged people residing in Palm Beach County, FL (qualification required plus $10.00 co-pay). This program is for individuals that are unemployed/underemployed, on social security or disability & those that meet the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Sterilization must be performed at one of our partner Veterinary Clinics: Safe Harbor in Jupiter, Peggy Adams in West Palm Beach, Paws 2 Help in West Palm Beach, Stray Aid in Pompano. Call us at 561-835-9525 or contact us via email through this website. Pit Bulls are sterilized for FREE at Animal Care & Control in West Palm Beach. Call them at 561-233-1261 to schedule an appointment if you own an unsterilized Pit Bull.

• TNR Program – Trap-Neuter-Return is the humane and effective approach for stray and feral/community cats. Now in practice for decades in the US after being proven in Europe, scientific studies show that Trap-Neuter-Return improves the lives of community cats, improves their relationships with the people who live near them, and decreases the size of colonies over time. It is exactly what it sounds like: Cats are humanely trapped and taken to a veterinarian to be sterilized, vaccinated and microchipped. After recovery, the cats are returned to their home—their colony or location where we trapped them, fed & cared for by the caller. Kittens are removed from the colony & placed in one of our foster homes for socialization & eventual adoption. Please call us at 561-835-9525 if you need assistance with feral cats in your community or workplace. There is a fee for this service and you must be willing to allow the cat(s) to return to your property after sterilization. Unfortunately, there is no magic feral cat sanctuary to relocate these cats to.

Benefits of TNR:
º Mating behaviors cease, such as roaming, yowling, spraying, and fighting.
º Cats are vaccinated against rabies, preventing infectious disease transmittal to humans.
º Cats become better neighbors. Studies confirm that once TNR stops reproduction, and therefore mating behaviors, the cats’ relationship with residents improves. Colonies become quieter as behaviors like yowling or fighting stop, calls to authorities about the cats decrease significantly, and community morale improves.
º The population stabilizes—no new kittens!

• Feral Cat Food Program – If you are a caregiver of a managed, sterilized, homeless cat colony and qualify financially for this program, we will provide you with dry food to assist you in feeding & caring for the colony.

• Foster / Adoption Program – We place homeless animals into foster homes for socialization & we partner with PETCO for adoptions. Foster parents play a crucial role in the lives of homeless animals. If you’ve ever wanted to experience the unconditional love of an animal but cannot commit to lifetime ownership, fostering is the perfect answer. It is temporary & we provide you with a dog crate or kitten cage, food, litter & toys. Call us for more information at 561-835-9525.
