Palmetto Paws Animal Rescue
Palmetto Paws Animal Rescue is an all-volunteer 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of SC's at-risk dogs.
COME MEET US!!
Palmetto Paws Animal Rescue hosts adoption events on Saturdays from 1130AM-330PM at PETCO in Mt Pleasant. PETCO is located on Highway 17, in the old Walmart shopping center, just south of the I526/Highway 17 intersection. We do not have a physical shelter. We are a foster-based rescue. We are all volunteers and have full-time employment as well as our rescue responsibilities so this is why all adoptions are done on Saturdays. You are encouraged to submit an application via email prior to the event if you are interested in a specific dog or pup. The first approved applicant whom we feel is a good match is first to meet and potentially adopt the specific dog/pup on Saturday at 11am. The application can be found in every adoptable pet bio as well as lower down on this page. Potential adopters must come to the adoption event to meet and adopt our animals. Due to limited foster space, we are unable to hold an animal to be picked up at a later date. Please be prepared to meet, adopt and take home your companion the same day. Adoption fees are payable in cash only.
ADOPTION THROUGH PPAR...
We try to keep it as simple as possible... We strive to send out healthy animals and make the best match for the pet and family. Many of our pets come from high-kill shelters so we don't know much about them. Many pups come in with out mom and dad so usually we have no idea of breed or potential adult weight... we make a guess on the breed mix as we have to post a breed on this site to be able to list our pets. All of our animals will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped prior to adoption and treated for any other medical issues we are aware of. All adopters leave with a medical summary of what we have done while in rescue and what the adopter will need to do post adoption. We go over the medical summary with the adopter at adoption. We provide a new collar and leash and help adopters shop if needed. We have a trainer at the events to answer questions and go over "puppy 101." We welcome out of state adopters but please keep in mind that you would need to come to Charleston, SC to meet and adopt our pets. We do not ship/transport our animals. Adoption fees vary by animal and are listed in each individual posting. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at palmpaws@yahoo.com! Again keep in mind that we do our best to make an educated guess as to the breeds of our rescued pets. In rescue we rarely see the parents of the puppies we take in, and even when we do they too can be mixed breed dogs!
