The Heart and Soul Animal Sanctuary

The Heart and Soul Animal Sanctuary is a place of refuge for animals who would otherwise perish: The abandoned, the abused, the sick, the old. Our founder and director, Natalie Owings, works at the Sanctuary 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Heart and Soul Animal Sanctuary continues with our mission of rescuing abandoned and abused animals, including dogs, puppies, cats, horses, goats, lamas, geese, chickens, ducks, and rabbits. The sanctuary also provides a humane education program for groups of children.

Brief History: The organization received its nonprofit status in 1997. Natalie Owings, the founder had already been involved in rescue and rehabilitation for 20 years. The sanctuary was originally founded on one acre of land in New Mexico. Three years later 130 acres of mountainous, forested land was donated to the cause. The sanctuary resides on this land today and largely serves the Northern New Mexico area.
