Sonnywood Animal Rescue and Sanctuary is a non-profit organization that cares for abandoned, lost, or hurt animals.

Our primary focus right now is on dogs. Our goal is to eliminate the euthanization of helpless animals, stop undesired pregnancies, and provide an environment where the animals will be happy and healthy until they meet their forever families.

We do not charge an adoption fee. Our pets are 100% free to good homes. The happiness of the dogs and families involved are what is important to us. That being said, just like any rescue, we take on high costs to ensure the dogs are receiving proper medical treatment, get spayed and neutered, are fed, watered, sheltered, and just generally happy. We rely on our volunteers and others that are willing to donate time, money, or supplies. We want to continue growing to have the ability to bring in more dogs, especially dogs that are at risk for euthanization. We often take in dogs with behavior problems and work with them on their issues. There are very few dogs that cannot be "turned-around" if given a real chance. This is one of the reasons we believe in large spaces at Sonnywood Rescue. Large spaces create less anxiety in the dogs, give them freedom, and make for a happier environment in general.
