Belize Humane Society

To stabilize Belize City's free-roaming pet population.

To improve the quality of life for the pets of Belize City.

To contribute to a safer and healthier environment.

To educate the public on responsible pet care.

The Belize Humane Society continues to raise funds from cruise ship tourists for the welfare of animals in Belize and carries out its mission by funding activities carried out on its behalf by two veterinary clinics in Belize City.

[The Belize Humane Society and Animal Shelter (BHSAS), a non-profit organization, was founded in November of 1996 by a small group of concerned Belizeans and two Peace Corps Volunteers. BHSAS built an animal shelter on City Council land, but the shelter was closed in May 2012.]
