Pima Animal Care Center’s mission is to protect the public health and safety of the people and animals within Pima County.
Pima Animal Care Center is a division of the Pima County Health Department. The Health Department falls under the direction of the Deputy County Administrator for Medical and Health Services.
The Center is organized into four major divisions, Enforcement, Animal Shelter, Licensing, and Public Relations/Education. The Pima Animal Care Center is located in Tucson with a substation in Ajo, Arizona.

We here at the Pima Animal Care Center are committed to finding loving homes for homeless animals in Pima County. We treat all animals individually, and place them for adoption based on their individual behavior and health, not their breed.

Many people in Pima County already have 1-3 pets at home, so finding homes for our bonded pairs can sometimes be challenging.
We recently heard from some of these wonderful people who saved two best friends together and here's what they had to tell us:
-----------------------
King and Duke - I very much enjoy these boys, and they seem to like it here. My only disappointment is that they won't sleep on the bed with me, despite being repeatedly invited, which means I have to use more blankets now that the weather is cold! They follow me around quite a lot and often groom each other, and they do seem to seek each other out though they also go and do their own thing.
My father came to spend the weekend with me and they loved getting attention from him. King was on the couch with Dad and fell asleep with his head in Dad's lap and Luke frequently came up to Dad to get petted. When Dad stopped, Luke pawed at him to let him know he hadn't been dismissed yet.
-------------------------
Dino and Dodo - They are starting to settle into their new home. Dodo has been happy in his bed and we are still focusing on helping him gain some weight! They don’t spend all their time together but they do cuddle in the car and on the sofa. This week we finally had both dogs sleep in our bed and Dodo is a doing great at waking us up to take him out during the night. Dino sleeps solid the entire night, never moving from beneath the blanket after he is tucked in.
Our two Maltese are a little jealous of the new boys but for the most part they are all together and share toys, food, beds and lots of love. Dino is enamored with the tea cup Poodle our parents have in the suite next door and loves to play with him. Dino knows his mommy and he's good about following me and listening to me. Dodo is more of a daddy's boy and he definitely took to my husband and loves to sleep closer to him.
We just love these boys and they are home!
-------------------------
Thank you to all the kind and compassion people out there who have kept the love TOGETHER! We appreciate you so much! There have been 172 pairs (344 pets) saved TOGETHER since the start of the PACC Pals program!

Duque and Jenni are dreaming of a kind home where there are plenty of soft dog beds, lots of yummy food, and, of course, loads and loads of love.
Please come and meet these two special pals and see if you can make their dreams come true. They have a lot of life and love just waiting for you.

These two guys are looking for a job! Guiness and Bear are best friends and brothers. They have lived together all their lives.
They love being outside and getting plenty of exercise but they are also major cuddle bugs and love to be inside too - any soft surface must be immediately laid on! They are both housetrained and they know how to sit for treats.
Volunteers say these sweet pals are playful, energetic, and extremely intelligent.
Adopting pals may actually mean less work than adopting a single pet — they keep each other entertained; they give each other stability and comfort; they adjust more quickly to new situations; and they provide two times the amount of love.

💕 Bear A741152: 5 year old neutered male tricolor mix 94.2 pounds

There is a hidden gem at PACC just waiting to be discovered and her name is Layla. This adorable gal is the perfect package – She’s the right size with the right mix of energy and the right amount of devotion and love.
In her previous home, Layla spent time with older children and did well. She's also housetrained.
Since arriving at PACC, Layla attends the small dog playgroup and she’s tolerant and easy-going with other dogs but she’d rather spend her time exploring the yard by herself or being with humans.
Layla is a doll. She’s simple to leash up and is an excellent walking partner. She has a cute little brisk trot she likes to do. She also enjoys exploring and sniffing the play yards independently but she constantly circles back around to check on her human friends and seek attention. She’s extremely affectionate and gives the best kisses! And we’ve also discovered she loves to have her tummy rubbed and she’s a fan of food!
❤ Layla A760126: 10 year old, spayed female, tan, 34.6 pounds

Brownie A756860 is the best momma we have ever seen. She had 11 puppies in an office here at the shelter, and now she is looking to upgrade to a home.
She house-trained very quickly and will ask you to take her out to potty. Brownie also takes VERY good care of her babies, so all you’d have to do is feed her and keep their bedding clean.
The family has been in the office for over a week, and it’s no place for fragile puppies. If you foster, we can provide all the needed supplies.
Interested? Just stop by the shelter any time we are open! Pima.gov/foster
