Santa came early for Lucy!
She received her groom today with the help of this incredible community!
@walnutgroveboarding is always so kind and generous with helping our shelter animals look amazing while giving them patience throughout their appointment.
We are so grateful Lucy was able to get a much needed groom!
Hopefully her #1 wish comes true soon as well - finding her forever home 💙
The shelter dogs have written their letters to Santa! 📬
While their number one wish is to be adopted and in a home, there are items that would make a difference in their stay at the shelter.
With less than a month until Christmas, we are sharing their Wish Lists and hope to be able to give each dog a special gift! If the dog is adopted, their gift will be shared with any new dogs in the shelter.

The cats are LOVING their new Kuranda beds!
The tower is perfect for the cat room as it gives options for multiple cats to try it out, and it's vertical design doesn't take up lots of floor space. Joey was eager to test it out!
Huff is resting on his single cat bed, and we have made a hiding spot for him underneath should he need some quiet time.
We are so humbled and happy that our supporters have made this possible for the cats that call the shelter home, for now and in the future!

Wearing gowns while caring for the animals is essential in preventing the spread of illness in the shelter. Having washable gowns helps us to stay safe while also being better for the planet than disposable ones.
It may not look like it, but Pandora was impressed with our new gowns and posing for the photo!

Adopt Carmen!
This 5 year old beauty came into our care earlier this month, and is showing her true colours while in a loving foster home!
In a matter of days, Carmen was so comfortable outside the shelter environment that she was rolling over on her back for belly rubs!
Carmen is affectionate and purrs with bliss when you give her lots of pats. She is a gentle lady who adores being brushed, which is helping to improve her overall coat. Carmen is on a bit of a weight loss journey, but fortunately she is getting lots of play time! She enjoys a variety of toys and will play with you as well as independently.

Our Pocket Pets have lists for Santa too! ☃️
We currently have several rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs either in the shelter, a foster home, or at a pet store for adoption!

It seems that every year the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales keep getting bigger and bigger!
Giving Tuesday is observed on November 30th and is a day to show your support for charities in need.
The Northumberland Humane Society has been serving our community since 1966 and is the only registered charitable animal shelter in Northumberland County.
Northumberland Humane Society relies solely on donations to provide a safe haven for hundreds of pet dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, hamsters, rats, mice, etc. each year.
