This Networking page is volunteer run by Day of the Dogs (a 501c3 nonprofit) and dedicated to giving a voice to the animals that ended up at the Harris County Animal Shelter in Houston, TX.

This is NOT THE OFFICIAL PAGE run by the Harris County Animal Shelter. Here is the FB page run by shelter staff: www.facebook.com/HarrisCountyAnimalShelter/?fref=ts

We are volunteers with Day of the Dogs who want to give the animals in the shelter a voice by sharing pictures and videos to help give those animals exposure.

This animal shelter services UNINCORPORATED Harris County. If you are in the following communities, animal control takes stray animals to THIS SHELTER: Aldine, Atascocita, Bammel, Barker, Barrett, Beaumont Place, Bridgeland Community, Cedar Bayou, Champion Forest, Channelview, Cinco Ranch [partly in Fort Bend County], Cloverleaf, Crosby, Cypress, Dyersdale, Highlands, Hockley, Houmont Park, Hufsmith, Kinwood, Klein, Kleinbrook, Kohrville, Louetta, Lynchburg, McNair, North Houston, Northcliffe, Northcliffe Manor, Remington Ranch, Rose Hill, Satsuma, Sheldon, Spring, The Woodlands [mostly in Montgomery County], Timber Meadows, Traces, Westfield)

TOMBALL - the city contracts with this animal control for services. If a dog is found in Tomball it will be taken to this shelter. Spread the word! Many in the community don't realize this!

More that 2 million people live in unincorporated Harris County. Animal control officers take stray dogs to this shelter - collectively they can bring in 40 - 80 PER DAY. The shelter is only designed to hold around 100 animals.

IF you lost a pet and live in unincorporated Harris County your dog will be taken to this shelter.

This shelter an open intake shelter. Meaning they HAVE TO take in all animals that are brought in by both the animal control and the general population. They can't turn animals away like the privately run shelters can ex. SPCA, Humane Society, Friends for Life, Abandoned Animal etc.

The animals in this shelter needs our help, the animal lovers of this community, to be their voice to let people know they are there and to help them find a forever home.
