Karuna Society for Animals and Nature

We are a registered non-profit organization involved in animal care and organic farming at Puttaparthi, Central South India.

- To alleviate the suffering of every suffering animal in the area and provide life long care to disable ones.
- To work for the preservation of the environment through organic farming
- To encourage vegetarianism and a holistic lifestyle with respect for mother nature and all her creatures.

Karuna Society for Animals and Nature, is established in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh, South India, since 2000, as a non-profit organsiation working for animal welfare and the environment.

Over the years, the organization has grown from rescue and care of small animals to care of large animals and wildlife as well as the care of the environment through organic farming, biogas, vermicompost, etc.

In ten years, with the support of its well-wishers, Karuna has accomplished the following;
-Clinic and shelter for small animals.
-Separate operation theatre for ABC (Animal Birth Control) to cover the
entire South Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh.
-Hospital and operation theatre for large animals
-Shelter for rescued cattle
- Wildlife rescue center over a separate area of 5 acres
- Truck for transport of different animals.
-Organic farm and spirulina production
-Shop in Puttaparthi for selling our organic produce and informing the public.

A major project in the pipeline is the construction of a new wildlife centre on a larger and more appropriate venue, around the forest area. This will provide a better home for abandoned, sick and rescued wildlife in our care. A larger number of wild animals can be treated and housed here as compared to our current wildlife sanctuary.

Karuna Society for Animals & Nature, besides looking after the welfare of animals, including working animals to help the local farmers, also provides employment to nearly 40 locals, thus improving the lot of the community. It is also involved in Humane Education programs with local schools.
