Kathi's K9s Dog Rescue & Adoptions

This page showcases the dogs that we have at our dog rescue facility. You may see the dogs, the videos, and photos of dogs that have been adopted. Please share so that more people may see the wonderful adoptable dogs that are available.

Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home dogs and puppies that are from animal services throughout the state, as well as from owner-surrenders which will be placed in permanent loving and caring homes.

Who We Are
Kathi’s K9s, Inc. received its 501c3 non-profit status in 2012. We pull dogs and puppies from vrious Animal Services throughout the state of Florida. We also accept owner-surrendered dogs from the local community.
We receive many dogs from Chipley Animal Services, 686 Highway Chipley, FL 32428. These dogs are transported to Wildwood where we receive them and bring to our facility. We also obtain dogs from Hernando County Animal Services, 19450 Oliver St, Brooksville, FL 34601. We have a wonderful relationship with the Humane Society of the Nature Coast, 7200 Mobley Rd., Brooksville, FL 34602. When their facility is filled to capacity, they refer owner-surrendered dogs to our rescue. Additionally, they refer visitors at their shelter to our rescue for specific breeds or small dogs that they may not have.
Once at our facility, dogs are given all necessary veterinary care through Petluv, Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic 7348 Broad St, Brooksville, FL 3401. These procedures include neutering, spaying, insertion of micro-chip, vaccinations, rabies certificate, and de-worming. For further care, our dogs are taken to Animal Health Veterinary Clinic, 13160 Jacqueline Rd, Brooksville, FL 34613. In rare instances our dogs have required emergency veterinary care. Our rescue uses Animal Emergency of Hernando County, 3496 Deltona Blvd., Spring Hill, FL 34606.
Some dogs have come into our facility needing extensive grooming. For this care, we take them to Nelly’s Dog Grooming, 3435 Deltona Blvd., Spring Hill, FL 34606.
Occasionally we will receive a dog that exhibits behavioral issues. We request the assistance of dog trainer and behaviorist Michelle Melady for this. We have also taken many dogs to Stillwater Dog Training, 7200 Mobley Rd., Brooksville, FL 34602 for basic obedience and agility classes.
Several dog adoption sites are available online. Our rescue showcases dogs on the websites, Adopt-a-Pet.com, RescueMe.org, Petfinder.com, Iams.com, and Facebook. The dogs are photographed, videotaped, and posted on these sites for adoption. Perspective adopters request applications for the dogs they are interested in. Once we receive their application, we contact their references, as well as their current veterinarian, should they have one. If the perspective adopter is deemed appropriate, then a home visit takes place. The adopter completes a contract and the rescued dog becomes their family member. For whatever reason, if the dog needs to be re-homed at any time, it is stipulated in the contract that the dog is always returned to our rescue.
Our rescue participates in Adoption Events in Hernando County. In this way, our dogs are seen by perspective adopters.
