Bluegrass Senior Dog Rescue

We are a 501(c)(3) senior dog rescue. Due to chronic Health issues, we are in the process of closing the rescue.

Our mission:
Bluegrass Senior Dog Rescue is a non-profit 501c3 organization (registered in the state of KY) dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned senior dogs, primarily from shelters. We work with committed volunteers, local veterinarians, and boarding facilities to provide senior dogs with high quality vet care, good food, a loving, comforting home to live out the remainder of their lives. We also work together with shelters and rescues to promote rescue, foster and adoption of senior dogs. BGSDR provides education to the community on the joys and challenges of caring for senior pets.

After adopting Norman, a senior St. Bernard mix, we fell in love and felt we had won the lottery! Since Norman, we felt the need to start a rescue. Aince we are unable to take every dog in need we also help to network, place and transport other senior dogs. It is heartbreaking to see the numbers of seniors who are tossed out like the garbage, through no fault of their own. After having been loved and treasured to being scared and hungry. It is NOT acceptable to throw away any animal, nor to abuse, mistreat, neglect or starve. Each dog that we have rescued has had some health misfortune due to previous owner neglect. We have had such great joy in watching these boys grow and flourish!
