ICYMI - CALVIN'S A VERY LUCKY KITTY!

Calvin was brought to us by a Good Samaritan who had found him lost and all alone. It was apparent right away that Calvin wasn't feeling well and as it turned out, Calvin had stomatitis - an extreme inflammation of the gums and mouth caused by the body's unexplained and overzealous reaction of the immune system to plaque accumulation on the teeth.

It's not uncommon in cats and dental experts have long recommended removal of all or a majority of the teeth as the most successful way to manage the disease. Cats that have their teeth removed feel better and are finally free from pain. They are able to eat again and live longer healthier lives - some even preferring dry cat food over canned.

A full mouth dental extraction isn't a simple procedure and it can be very costly, but a lovely couple that wishes to remain anonymous made a donation to cover Calvin's entire surgery. Thanks to them, he is already feeling better and once he's fully recovered, will be available for adoption.

Calvin's story isn't unusual. Almost every day we see a dog or cat in need - sometimes all they need is food and shelter, but often they need more. That's where you come in.
