Let’s talk about beautiful Mallory!!!! Mallory is about 9/10 years old and she’s a very wonderful little girl. She was adopted from WVHS about 6/7 years ago and had a home for some years until she was brought back to the shelter. She is now waiting for her perfect fit! You see, Mallory has some gastrointestinal issues BUT there is a very simple fix that has been working! Since she’s been back at the shelter, she is on a special food to help her little body work properly and she is no longer having diarrhea, like she was before she went on the special diet. Mallory is a nice girl who is happy to receive love and attention! When I visited WVHS the other day, I was warned that she “might hiss” at me, but she didn’t. She was happy to let me pet her for about 20 minutes. She closed her eyes and leaned her head into my head while I scratched around her neck. It was sweet but also sad to see, because I could tell she wanted to soak up all the joy she could.
I think she has been overlooked because she’s not the type of outgoing cat who will reach out of her cage and beckon people over to her, but she is definitely NOT shy and she LOVES when people spend time with her. Mallory is beautiful inside and out and she is looking for a loving family and a happy home where she can live out the second half of her life. Please SHARE to help this cute little kid find a loving family of her very own.

Grant really needs our help. He is NOT presenting well when adopters come in to meet him. Two times now, an adopter has come to WVHS to meet him but then ended up adopting someone else. (That’s OK! There is no shame in being drawn to a shelter by one kitten, but forming a strong attachment to a different kitten. I would bet that this happens every single day at shelters all over the world.) However, it is very sad for little Grant that he is not showing his true personality to the people who are excited to meet him. He is INCREDIBLY upset to be back at the shelter after living in his foster home. I thought I would make this post to show what Grant is like in a home. Please understand, this happy, playful kitten you see in these videos is NOT the same version of Grant that you will meet at the shelter. At the shelter, you will meet a scared, confused kitten who is regressing. I believe he has a horrible case of Shelter Stress, which is a very real and difficult thing, and he will return to his true self when he gets back into a loving home... forever, this time. So, this is a special situation that calls for a special adopter. Grant needs an “adopt first, fall in love with him second” type of approach. He needs someone who will adopt him NOT because of a successful meet-and-greet, but because of his potential. He needs someone who will meet him as a shy, scared, depressed little boy and take a chance on him anyway. Once he is in his own home, he will have room to run and play again, like he loves to do. He loved to sleep on his foster mom’s bed with her and he will be so happy when he has a home with a nice big bed again. He just needs to get there.
So, what can we do? Please SHARE this post to help Grant find the person/family who is willing to adopt him and wait a few short days for him to settle into his new environment. He is ABSOLUTELY worth the wait ❤️ Once his Shelter Stress is gone and he feels happy and secure, the kitten in these videos will reappear. Please help us get him back.

We have some Great Expectations, I mean... GREAT NEWS to share with you all. Nigel, Nikolai, and Grant have all received a wonderful, special offer from a very kind-hearted BENEFACTOR! A few days ago, a woman named Grace Pullen offered to sponsor the adoption fees for all 3 of these amazing little kittens. Nikolai and Nigel are bonded brothers and must be adopted together, while Grant is alright to go off on his own, but he does love other cats and kittens. While none of these boys are of noble birth, as they all started out their lives as strays, they have grown into perfect gentlemen.
All 3 of these boys ABSOLUTELY THRIVE in a loving home of their very own. They did very well in their foster home and showed their true personalities as happy, excited, playful little boys who loved to cuddle. After returning to WVHS, they have put their guards up. They are not acting like happy little kittens who are carefree and immediately friendly. They are scared and confused and they don’t understand why they went from their foster home back to the shelter. But I assure you, they will become well-adjusted to their forever home and never look back. They need to be adopted by someone who can see past their scared and shy exteriors. They were unbelievably happy in their foster home and they will be unbelievably happy once they’re in their forever homes. They just need someone to help them get there.
Please SHARE this post so that we can get as many eyes on this post as possible. And please start the adoption process if YOU are interested in Grant, the brothers, or maybe all three!

Nigel, Nikolai, and Grant have been back at WVHS for almost 2 weeks now, after returning from their foster home. They are not as happy as they were in a home. They are understandably confused and upset. They don’t know why they can’t run around anymore, or where their big king-sized bed went. They were all so happy when they were in a home, and it’s upsetting that their true personalities aren’t shining through in the shelter. It is my fear that when adopters come to the shelter to look around, these boys aren’t presenting themselves as the happy, excited, playful, affectionate boys they truly are when they’re thriving in a great environment. Nigel used to cuddle with his foster mom for hours, now he spends most of his time in his litter box. Nikolai used to be unbelievably affectionate, now he will be happy to receive affection when he can but he is not as happy and carefree as he once was. And Grant used to be incredibly active and outgoing, but he is now stunned and shocked and he can’t play and cuddle the way he used to. OF COURSE, they have everything they need at the shelter, and the shelter is a safe place for them to wait until they find their homes. But they are not meant to live at WVHS. If adopters could take an interest in these wonderful little boys, knowing that “shelter stress” is a VERY real thing and it will go away once they’ve adjusted to a home, that adopter will be so happy with their new kitten(s)! Please try to look past these scared, confused outer shells and understand that in a home, these kittens WILL snuggle with you, run and play, and be very happy, fun little loves. Nigel and Nikolai are bonded brothers who are almost 8 months old. Grant is roughly 7 months old and he’s not bonded to anyone, but he does get along with other cats and kittens. Please try not to judge off of what you see when you look into their cage, but trust in their potential and know what they are capable of in a loving home.

Time for another kitten post! Last month, I made a post showing just 11 of the available kittens at WVHS. Thankfully, several of them have gone home since then! Here are some more kittens that are waiting for their own loving family to come adopt them so they can start living happily ever after. Just like last time, this post only shows the tip of the kitten iceberg, so please come on in to see if anyone at the shelter is the perfect match for you and your home ❤️🏡

Let’s talk about Lulu! 💕 Today I spent some time with Lulu and she was very happy to be pet, but doesn’t seem very active. She is 7 years old and has been at WVHS since she was 3 years old. I don’t know if she would be more active and playful in her very own home, or if she is the type of girl who will always want to lounge around, and relax. Either way, I know this: she loves attention! She stayed curled up in her bed while I was visiting her but she was happy to let me pet her for as long as I wanted and she was not shy with me even though she does not know me very well. (There are a few of us on here running social media and I am not a staff member that she sees regularly, but she didn’t mind!) Again, we don’t know what Lulu will act like in her own home. But we DO know that she loves to be loved. Please SHARE to help Lulu find her perfect match. And please start the adoption process if YOU are interested in this beautiful sweetheart. She can’t wait to have her own family ❤️

When Grant returned to the shelter on Thursday, he joined Nikolai and Nigel, his former foster brothers. Hopefully the 3 of them are happy to be reunited, because they loved playing and cuddling in their foster home. In the cage right next to them, Garbanzo, Gelato, Giada, and Geraldine (who is actually a boy, we recently discovered) are all adjusting to shelter life together. All 7 of these kittens are incredibly loving, affectionate, well-socialized little babies. Please help us work together to find them their perfect homes. It would be wonderful if they could quickly be adopted into a loving home so they don’t regress after leaving their happy foster home. Please SHARE to help get the word out about these kittens so they don’t have to grow up in cages. And if you are interested in adding one (or more) of these bundles of love and joy to your home, please get started on the adoption process.

SURPRISE! It’s turns out that Geraldine is actually a BOY! As of right now, his name is still technically Geraldine on his paper work 😂 We can call him “Geri” for short in the meantime, but his name will most likely be changed to Gerald or possible Gerard. Gerald returned to WVHS with his 3 siblings yesterday, 11/4. They are all available for adoption!!! Mistakes happen and recently, someone on Facebook asked if Geraldine was still available and was told no. However, he is! He’s just going to have a name change in the next day or so. I have searched Facebook for the comment of someone inquiring about Geraldine, but I haven’t been able to find it. If that was you, please know that he is available. The kittens will all be spayed/neutered next week and should then officially be ready to go home. If you are interested in Geri or any of his siblings, you can get started on the adoption process now and then just wait until they’re ready to leave the shelter.

*CUTE LOVING KITTENS, WAITING FOR FAMILY* These are the last pictures taken of these kittens in their foster home before they returned to the shelter this morning. 6-month-old Grant and this 14-week-old litter of kittens are now back at Warwick Valley Humane Society. All 5 of these kittens are loving, snuggly, playful, fun, entertaining, full of joy, and waiting for their own family to love them. All of these kittens will bring so much light and happiness into whichever family they join. Please SHARE to help us get the word out that these kittens are now in cages waiting for adoption. *FOSTER KITTEN WAITING FOR ADOPTER*
6-month-old Grant is returning to WVHS on 11/4. As you can see from these pictures, he 1) loves his toy cricket 2) loves having a soft comfortable bed and 3) loves watching TV, especially Wheel of Fortune. All he wants in life is a toy, a bed to nap on, a TV, and a family that will deeply love him. If you think you could be the one to make this little boy’s dreams come true and give him a home to call his own, please fill out an adoption application and make an appointment to meet him. He may be shy for a very brief period of time, probably just a day or two, and then he will be his affectionate, snuggly, playful, silly self. He is so fun to have around and he’s wonderful at cuddling! Please SHARE to help us find this deserving kitten a happy, loving home.

*FOSTER KITTENS, RETURNING TO SHELTER 11/4*
14-week-old Garbanzo, Geraldine, Gelato, and Giada have made wonderful progress during their time in their foster home. At first, all 4 of them were very scared to be picked up or handled in any way. They quickly learned to trust and they all developed at their own pace, and they are ready to return to the shelter. They are now old enough to be spayed and after that, they should be ready to head home! All 4 of them allow their foster mom to hold them for extended periods of time and give them lots of kisses. Some are more outgoing than others, and some are still a little shy and need to let you make the first move. But all 4 of them purr like crazy in their foster mom’s arms and often fall asleep while being held like a baby! They play hard and sleep hard, as kittens at this age tend to do. They will bring so much joy, fun, and love into whichever families open their hearts and homes to them. Please SHARE to help these 4 brave blessings find their forever homes.

Grant (officially named “Granite”) has grown from a scared kitten who would shy away from being pet into a happy, well-socialized kitten who loves sleeping on his foster mom’s bed for hours. He is silky soft and he loves to cuddle and be pet for as long as someone is willing! He has such a joyful heart and his purrs can be heard from across the room.
