If you have complaints regarding dogs roaming your neighborhood, please call 911.If you find a lost/stray dog, check for tags, contact Mille Lacs County dispatch at 320/983.8257 to report the found property. A lost/stray dog is someone's property and we must make every effort to get the dog back to his/her owner.A lost/stray dog is NOT the finder's property to give away or sell!!
We are a no-kill impound, licensed by the Minnesota Board of Animal Health. We are not a rescue or a shelter. Tremendous efforts are made to reunite dog with his/her owner-if no owner is found-dogs go through a process to find his/her own forever family.

If you are retrieving a long lost pet that is in our care, custody and control-please be advised that we are by APPOINTMENT ONLY.
To claim your dog, you must provide proof of ownership. Examples include veterinary records, photos of your pet, etc. Also-all fees must be paid before any dog will be released to his/her owner/s.

Note: The Mille Lacs County Animal Control Ordinance is not enforced on lands held in Trust for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, nor will the Mille Lacs Animal Control Officer remove dogs from these lands. Please contact Tribal Police if your dog is missing from these lands.
