The mission of Lap Dog Rescue of New Mexico is to rescue, rehabilitate and place for adoption small, companion dogs. Our goal is to place these companion dogs in loving, forever homes and to do this through a rigorous screening and adoption process.


How Can You Help?

Lap Dog Rescue of New Mexico was granted Federal 501c3 status ( a non-profit charitible organization) in January, 2001. Our EIN # is 85-0477845. Donations of money and other items are tax deductible. We are fortunate to be included in the United Way campaign. We were also designated as a Great Non-Profit Organization for 2013 through 2016 by Greatnonprofits.org. We are also considered one of top five Best Places to Adopt a Pet by the readers of Albuquerque The Magazine for 2014 and 2015.

We can always use towels (both paper and cloth), blankets, pet bedding, collars, leashes, sweaters, bowls, cleaning supplies, wee pads, old ace bandages, and e-collars. We recycle your unwanted dog houses and fencing to folks who need them.

Many of our animals come to us in need of various types of veterinary services. We always have a few geriatric pets who require heart, thyroid, and other medications. Donations to our medical funds would be very much appreciated.
