Indigo Haven Animal Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit, no-kill, volunteer animal rescue organization serving Virginia and surrounding states. We are dedicated to rescuing animals left homeless or abandoned for whatever reason; injured animals; abused or neglected animals; dogs and cats in public shelters where they are at high risk of euthanasia due to pet overpopulation, dogs, cats and other animals given up by their owners because of difficult circumstances; and those in danger of abuse or neglect.
We place our rescue Angels in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes; following a comprehensive adoption process which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches as well as educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog or other furbaby into their homes and lives.
Animals in our care are spayed or neutered and they receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment. The animals are loved and cared for here, or they are placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their furever homes. We assist animals in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement, to the extent our finances allow. Animals in the greatest need take priority.
We are determined to keep administrative expenses low so that virtually every dollar taken in goes directly to the care of the animals. Our group remains interested in and committed to the welfare of the animals beyond the adoption process.
We strive to work with local shelters and other rescue and humane organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless pets. We also reach out beyond local needs to the inner city high kill shelters in an effort to save the lives of the forlorn and forgotten.


Indigo Haven Animal Rescue is a no-kill animal rescue group with years of animal and rescue experience. We are committed to helping the most needy, as well as the readily adoptable, among our community's most vulnerable creatures.

We are a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to restoring the dogs and critters under our care to physical and emotional health as they await placement in loving, responsible homes.

Virtually all donated funds will be spent directly on the care of the animals.

We are ready and willing to help you, the prospective adopter or foster home, find a companion who will thrive in your home. We are here to assist you in every way possible throughout the adoption/foster process and will continue to be a helpful resource after you have welcomed your new pets into your life.
