To rescue and take care of any animal in need of a home and to educate the public

Hello, my name is Jordan Higgins, founder of Wild Spirits animal sanctuary. I founded this sanctuary ten years ago when I stumbled upon an injured fox (later named Sasha) on the side of the road. She was in dire need of some medical attention but, luckily, I was able to rush her to a veterinarian and she was able to make a recovery. However, in her condition, she was unable to return to the wild. Naturally, I became inspired to provide the best home I could provide for Sasha and built her a shelter on my land. Shortly thereafter, I was approached by a couple with a tiger, Bruce, who had grown too large to live in their small apartment anymore. I had just recently bought a large property and was able to accept the responsibility for his care. A few months later, a nearby zoo shut down and needed to find homes for their animals so I took on care for three wolves, a sun bear, an ocelot, a white Siberian tiger, a red panda and two cheetahs. Slowly, more and more animals were brought to me and over the next few years, my little animal family grew.
With help from my beloved family and colleagues I have been able to share the joys of all these animals and created a sanctuary open to the public. It became our goal to, not only rescue and care for animals in need, but to also educate the public about the animals and the problems they face in the world today. We currently have 20 enclosures and continue to build and expand every day. We are currently working on building a larger cheetah enclosure so that they have more room to exercise. In addition, we are in the middle of paving the pathways between all the enclosures. We provide daily guided tours of all the animals in hopes of sharing both the animals individual stories as well as an overall background of the species and the problems that face them.
We also have a separate facility for domestic dogs and cats that are up for adoption. Over the years, we’ve rescued countless dogs and cats that would have otherwise been put down, or were abandoned by their previous owners. These adorable animals would love to find their own homes. We hope that guests will come to our sanctuary with open hearts and feel as inspired as I was ten years ago to change the lives of animals and take on their care.
Thanks to many helpful volunteers, we are able to provide the best care for our animals. For the cheap price of 15 dollars per person, people are able to experience these amazing animals first hand. In addition, on Wednesdays, and Fridays, guests may watch cheetah and wolf training sessions which is fun entertainment and the animals love an audience! We gratefully accept any donations that would help feed and care for the animals.
