Adams County Humane Society, despite our name, is a completely privately run rescue shelter . Back in the 70's we were the shelter for Adams County, but within the past few years we realized we could make a larger impact on the lives of animals (and people) by privatizing. We no longer take in strays and now concentrate our efforts on animal education, spay neuter programs, adoption of unwanted animals, and making sure that the public is aware that an animal adoption is a lifetime commitment as animals are not disposable! People ask why we don't change our name? Well that would require a lot of legal work to accomplish and we much prefer to spend the money on the welfare of our animals! Lic. #266944-DS
