CHAT of Ohio, Inc. Citizens for Humane Animal Treatment

CHAT of Ohio is a 501c3. CHAT=Citizens for Humane Animal Treatment. We help low income families pay vet bills. EVERY PENNY you donate goes to help animals.

CHAT of Ohio, Inc's aim is to ensure animals are treated humanely and to assist with spay and neuter efforts for cats and dogs.

Without spay and neuter efforts, a dog through its lifetime and with its offspring can produce 67,000 puppies. In 11 years, a cat and its offspring can produce more than 13 million cats. CHAT worked to provide the Mutt Huts and Cat Chalets because of many calsl she received over the years about animals left outside with no shelter. We see dogs tied outside that die because of heat or cold. One dog froze to death tied to a metal pipe and died standing up. These horrific images are burned in our brains and we know SOMETHING MUST BE DONE.... CHAT volunteers slap heat warning on the windshields of vehicles when people leave pets in hot cars, then call the police. CHAT also has stickers people can put on their windows to alert firefighters there are pets inside. Through the Humane Society of the United States, CHAT of Ohio, Inc. offers a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone who poisons an animal. CHAT could not operate and would not still be in existence without the support of Dr. Jay Votaw and Community Animal Clinic in Calcutta, OH. When people have emergencies with their pets but can't afford a vet bill, CHAT tells them to take the sick or injured animal to Community Animal Clinic. CHAT volunteers are gathering signatures o a petition to sow the need for emergency veterinary care in Columbiana County. The closest after-hours emergency facility is in Girard in Mahoning County....For more information on CHAT's low-cost spay-neuter programs or other information, call Carol Chaffee at (330)386-5528
