We are volunteers saving abandoned animals at the Bertie County KILL-shelter! Please adopt ..don't shop! You can save a life today!


BCHS (501) consists of a very small group of volunteers taking care of the abandoned animals of Bertie county! Volunteers & donations allow us to maintain our own NO-KILL shelter for cats. We also work with Bertie County Animal Control and the dogs at their canine (KILL) Shelter. (We have no control over County policy.)

If you see a dog that interests you -- PLEASE CALL OR POST IMMEDIATELY. Our county shelter is very small (10 runs) and we can influence a dog's short-term survival if there is even a CHANCE of adoption or rescue! Our Animal Control Officer is very helpful when he can be.
